Our sun is one of many billions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy and trillions throughout the universe. Stellar evolution has been studied intensely in astrophysics for a century since the realization that nuclear fusion was the main energy source powering stars. A vast amount of specialized knowledge has been developed, but the purpose of this course is to distill this information into essential aspects accessible to non-experts. Students will gain a greater appreciation of the wonderful complexity and beauty of our star-filled universe.
